Description

Hulled Buckwheat (Fagopyrum) – / Elda /

Buckwheat looks like a grain and tastes like a grain, but surprisingly it’s not. It’s actually more of a fruit. It is ideal for those allergic to the gluten in wheat, because it is gluten free. Nutritionally, buckwheat provides vitamins B1 and B2, the minerals potassium, magnesium, phosphate and iron and it has nearly twice the amount of the amino acid lysine found in rice. Buckwheat is used to make flour for pancakes, pasta, bread and noodles. It’s a delicious choice for the healthy and hungry!

Some types of buckwheat are:

  • Fagopyrum tartaricum – Tatar buckwheat
